DMA Starts Board-Level Committee on Social Responsibility

The Direct Marketing Association said yesterday that it will create a new board-level committee focusing on the environment and other corporate social responsibility issues.

The Committee on Social Responsibility will report directly to the DMA's board of directors. The DMA said it is recruiting members to sit on the committee, and its initial agenda includes:

· Continue to encourage the establishment of environmentally responsible marketing and procurement policies.

· Develop environmentally responsible best practices.

· Educate and train on a range of environmental topics through conferences, seminars, publications and the DMA's Web site.

· Increase awareness among DMA members of developments likely to affect their organizations and the industry relative to environmental issues.

"The formation of the committee helps ensure that the DMA and its members understand and address key issues that are of concern to our industry in the workplace and marketplace," DMA president/CEO John A. Greco Jr. said in a statement.
