DM News relaunched its Web site with a new design and more functionality to serve readers and advertisers who seek current and archived news relating to direct, interactive and database marketing.

The site at www.dmnews.com also throws open to the public the DM News archives going back to 1996, the year of the online property's launch. Readers can access 25,000 articles through search by content or author.

Netconcepts, Madison, WI, handled the redesign.

A key feature of the new dmnews.com is its ability to be crawled better by search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN and Ask. Other user-friendly features include the addition of daily RSS feeds in diverse categories and the ability for readers to comment on stories posted. Visitors now can send trackbacks from their blogs to DM News articles on the site.

The site slots articles by news and by industry sectors.

The news sections cover ad agencies, ad serving/ad networks, affiliate marketing, calendar, catalog/retail, database marketing/CRM, direct mail/postal, direct response TV, e-commerce, e-mail marketing, international DM, legal/privacy, list/data services, print production, research and studies, search marketing, shows and associations, and teleservices.

The sector-wise breakup comprises ad agencies, apparel, arts/entertainment, automotive, business to business, catalog/retail, consumer electronics, e-commerce, education, financial services, healthcare, home furnishings, industrial products, media/publishing, nonprofits/fundraising, packaged goods, software/technology and travel/recreation.

Changes were made on the advertising side, too. Advertisers who prefer to promote their whitepapers through the DM News Whitepaper of the Day e-mail service can have this content hosted on dmnews.com. This extends the life of the whitepaper and boosts its chances of being picked up by a search engine.

Also, advertisers have more positions on the site to reach their target audiences of the nation's leading direct, interactive and database marketers who read DM News.

Adrian Courtenay, CEO and publisher of DM News, said towers, banners and top-of-the-page buttons as well as sponsorships are available. Several openings are available on the "Article" pages, which delivered more than 600,000 impressions monthly on the site's previous version.

"We're expecting this number to pass the 1 million mark very shortly," Mr. Courtenay said.
