DM Mission Planned to South America
A delegation of members of the direct marketing industry will make a trip to Brazil, Argentina and Chile as part of the eighth United States Trade Mission to South America May 19-24.The group will include catalogers, financial service companies, publishers, telemarketers, e-commerce companies and service suppliers. Their destinations include Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires and Santiago.
The mission is being organized by Bill McNutt of International Direct Marketing Consultants Inc. According to McNutt, more than 100 companies have participated in previous trade missions to Mexico and South America.
They will meet with government and direct marketing industry leaders, including the postmasters general of the different nations. Delegates will attend presentations on topics including direct mail, Internet marketing, telemarketing, mailing lists, databases, direct response television, shipping, tariffs and taxes, and credit cards.
The six-day trip will include tours of catalog and teleservices firms. Presentations will be focused on market-entry strategy.
U.S. exports to Chile, Brazil and Argentina were approximately $11 billion last year. The three nations combined have a population that is 86 percent of that of the United States.
