District Photo Acquires Online Photo Service

District Photo announced yesterday that it has acquired Snapfish, an online photo service. Snapfish will join the District Photo family as an independent business unit. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

District, which operates its own mail-order film business, also provides processing services to Kodak and has been Snapfish's processor since inception. Snapfish will operate as an independent business unit in San Francisco and maintain the Snapfish brand. The companies said Snapfish's pricing will not change as a result of the acquisition.

Snapfish, San Francisco, was backed by Kodak, Compaq, BellSouth and the Mayfield Fund.
