Disney launches new e-commerce site

Disney today unveils a new e-commerce Web site at DisneyStore.com that includes merchandise previously not available online and the ability to customize certain items.

Previously known as DisneyShopping.com, the new e-commerce site is called DisneyStore.com and is intended to complement any Disney entertainment or vacation experience.

For the first time, consumers will be able to purchase merchandise from Disney's domestic theme parks and resorts outside of the parks and online only at DisneyStore.com. Online shoppers will be able to choose from more than 100 top-selling products previously available only at domestic Disney parks and resorts, including customizable novelty ear hats, birthday gifts, exclusive art, collectibles, toys and plush items. The product selection will continue to expand throughout the year.

“Many of these products are the most frequently asked for by our guests, and now they are available to them at the click of a mouse,” said Edward Kummer, SVP of global e-commerce at Disney, in a statement.

DisneyStore.com also will expand its selection of merchandise from Disney Store retail locations.

The new Create-Your-Own merchandise shop at DisneyStore.com will enable customers to personalize merchandise with a Disney character and their name. For example, shoppers will be able to order Mickey Mouse, Cinderella and other character art images and messages displayed on fresh roses. Other items that can be personalized include apparel, bags, watches, blankets and home décor items.

This site also includes find a gift, shop by category, shop by character and create your own search lists and a new store locator.
