Valassis awarded $300 million in suit against News America Marketing

Media and marketing services company Valassis has been awarded $300 million for compensatory damages in its lawsuit against News America Marketing, a subsidiary of News Corporation. Valassis originally filed the action in the State of Michigan Wayne County Circuit Court on March 9, 2007, claiming unfair competition and tortious interference by News America Marketing. The jury's verdict found News America Marketing liable for both counts.

Valassis, Fraser Papers settle suits

Media and marketing services company Valassis Inc. and Fraser Papers have settled all legal disputes between the two companies on undisclosed terms. Fraser Papers filed a lawsuit against Valassis in the United States District Court, District of Maine, on December 8, alleging breach of contract for failure to pay for the purchase of specialty paper. Valassis filed an answer and counterclaim in January against Fraser Papers for breach of contract related to alleged defective paper purchased in 2005.

Valassis to include insert program as select mailer

Media and marketing services company Valassis will expand its reach by delivering its RedPlum FSI package through the mail in select markets. The company said the insert program would see "a distribution shift in select markets via consumers' mailboxes for free in the RedPlum Shared Mail Package along with their grocery and retail circulars."
