Direct Media, Millard Inc. to merge on July 1, May takes helm

Parent company InfoGroup has combined its Direct Media and Millard brands to form Direct Media Millard Inc. (DMM), a new direct marketing company that officially launches July 1. The two groups will combine their client rosters and work together to serve them. Larry May, CEO of Direct Media will serve as the president of Direct Media Millard, while Jeff Kelley, president of Millard, will serve as president of consumer management for DMM.

InfoGroup enters social media partnership

InfoGroup's InfoUSA data now powers point-of-interest (POI) content for LikeMe.Net, a social search and recommendations engine, the former announced on June 22. In other words, the data will both provide and confirm address data for businesses reviewed on LikeMe.

Duluth Trading taps Donnelley Marketing

InfoGroup creates new insert division from Millard, Direct Media

InfoGroup has combined the insert media arms of its Millard Group and Direct Media to form a new insert media service called AM/Direct. AM/Direct will offer insert media, webserts, free-standing inserts, mobile marketing, strategic marketing and other services to clients of both Millard and Direct.

InfoGroup amends '08 earnings report

InfoGroup released an amended yearly earnings report to the SEC for 2008, which reduced its total income due to administrative expenses related to shareholder litigation last year. The company reported operating income for 2008 of $28.2 million, or 4% of net sales, down from $86.5 million, or 13% of net sales, for 2007. The primary reason for the decrease in operating income was the result of $34.3 million in non-recurring charges incurred during 2008 related to a Special Litigation Committee's investigation brought on by a shareholder lawsuit.

InfoGroup extends agreement with Alterian

Database provider and marketer InfoGroup today signed a new and expanded long-term agreement with integrated marketing provider Alterian. Alterian and InfoGroup have been partners since 2001.

InfoGroup reported a 4% decline in revenue for the fourth quarter of 2008, down to $178.1 million from $185.8 million over the same period in 2007, according to its earnings report released today.

Online leads available on mobile subscribers can now access via their Internet-enabled mobile phones. The online sales leads database launched a new mobile site, Salesgenie Mobile, which enables sales professionals to access their existing leads or search for new prospects via their smartphones.

Gupta steps down as CEO of InfoGroup

Vinod Gupta, CEO of Info­Group, resigned from his execu­tive position at the firm he founded in 1972 on August 21. His action was part of a settlement agreement relating to a shareholder lawsuit, according to a report filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

InfoGroup's board of directors has recommended removing chairman Vin Gupta from his role, after a five-month review by a special litigation committee. Gupta will remain CEO of the company, but has agreed to pay the company $9 million, subject to court approval.
