World Color Press, Greenwich, CT, has increased its retail advertising insert capabilities with the acquisition of printer Great Western Publishing, Phoenix, AZ. Great Western, which had 1997 revenues of $42 million, is the fifth acquisition of 1998 and the 21st since 1993.

Great Western prints inserts for regional grocery and drugstore clients as well as national retailers like Albertson's and Best Buy from plants in Phoenix, Ontario, CA, Salt Lake City and Houston. World Color CEO Robert Burton said the purchase positions the company to meet the increasing demand of retailers for newspaper inserts that drive store traffic.
