Shipper UPS reported 7% year-over-year revenue growth during the first quarter of 2010 to $11.7 billion from $10.9 billion. Average volume per day increased to 14.93 million pieces during the quarter from 14.5 million the year before.

Both US and international package revenue increased year-over-year during the period. US domestic package revenue increased to $7.1 billion from $6.95 billion the year prior. Average volume per day increased to 12.73 million pieces for the quarter from 12.68 million last year.

Revenue from international package shipping jumped to $2.64 billion during Q1 from $2.24 billion the year prior, while international average volume per day improved to 2.2 million pieces from 1.86 million pieces during last year's Q1.

Kurt Keuhn, CFO of UPS, said in a statement that the company “expects first-quarter trends to continue through the year, producing revenue growth and additional operating leverage.”

In February, UPS reported fourth-quarter 2009 revenues of $12.4 billion, a 2.5% drop year-over-year from the $12.7 billion earned during the same period of 2008.
