Staples? Media Horizons' got that

Office supply retailer Staples Inc. recently awarded management of its package insert program to Media Horizons Management, Norwalk, CT.

The direct response agency also will manage the company's catalog blow-in program and online banner advertising for the Staples Business Delivery Web site and some e-mail blasts.

The well-known Staples brand is a way for third-party advertisers to reach small businesses or home office customers through a trusted channel. The blow-in program is run from a 43 million contact universe. The average age of a consumer is 40-55, with an annual income of $87,000. The package insert program targets a similar demographic, reaching a universe of 4.5 million.

The product line available at www.staples.com has 45,000 items including standard office supplies, computer hardware and software and office furniture.

Checks Unlimited opens customer mailings

Direct Checks Unlimited Sales Inc., Colorado Springs, CO, will accept third-party inserts in its business check customer mailings starting in April. The company also sells personal checks and personalized accessories like mailing labels.

Direct response agency Stanton Direct Marketing, Elmira, NY, is managing the consumer check supplier's ride-along program, which is set to contain six noncompetitive product inserts.

An estimated 200,000 packages will mail in April to existing small business owner clients who often save money by buying products such as: computer checks, business check desk sets, deposit slips, envelopes, check endorsement stamps and address labels, directly from the manufacturer.

Offers to the Checks Unlimited customer base will be received along with a letter and a 16-page catalog. The supplier also has an e-commerce site that targets the business owner at business.checksunlimited.com. The target audience seeks an affordable way to supply their businesses with essentials while maintaining information security and streamlining operations.
