RR Donnelley Q4 US print sales up 5.3%

Fourth quarter 2010 net sales in RR Donnelley's US print and related services division grew by 5.3% year-over-year to $2 billion. The Chicago-based company's US printing business saw net sales increase 1.3% for the full year to $7.5 billion.

The company reported total net sales of $2.7 billion in the fourth quarter of 2010, which ended December 31, 2010, a 4.8% increase compared with 2009. Full-year total net sales reached $10 billion, an increase of 1.6% compared with the prior fiscal year.

The US print and related services division reported $127.3 million in operating income in Q4, and it saw $639 million in operating income for the full year. The company's overall Q4 net earnings reached $26.1 million, an improvement compared with the prior Q4's net loss of $79 million. Full-year 2010 net earnings reached $217 million, compared with the prior year's $21 million net loss.

Fourth-quarter net sales in RR Donnelley's international division increased 3.5% to $682 million. For the full year, the international division's net sales increased 2.7% to $2.5 billion.

Thomas Quinlan, president and CEO of RR Donnelley, said in an earnings statement that the company is “pleased with our fourth-quarter results and the momentum that we built throughout the year.”

“During 2010, we saw a significant increase in the number of customers purchasing multiple products and services from us,” he said on an earnings call. “As we begin 2011, we continue to focus on achieving top-line growth through our One RR Donnelley global print management strategy and expect the positive trends achieved in 2010 to continue throughout 2011.”
