R.R. Donnelley & Sons Co., Chicago, said yesterday that it acquired OfficeTiger, a New York-based provider of business process outsourcing services. The cash deal worth $250 million is to close this spring and is subject to regulatory approval.

R.R. Donnelley said OfficeTiger's transaction services complement its existing document-based outsourcing services. The acquisition is the second this year for the print services company. Earlier, it acquired another BPO provider, Astron. The deals are expected to help R.R. Donnelley build its BPO business quickly in the United States and Europe. The company expects the acquisition will dilute earnings mildly in 2006.

OfficeTiger's services include financial analysis and reporting, desktop publishing, creative services, word processing, credit analysis, claims processing, litigation support, market research, database services and managing creative services for output.

"Having been a customer of OfficeTiger's for several years, we are pleased to announce this acquisition as the logical next step in building our global BPO business," R.R. Donnelley CEO Mark A. Angelson said in a statement.

OfficeTiger was founded by Randolph Altschuler and Joseph Sigelman. Both will remain as co-presidents of OfficeTiger and assume additional responsibilities within R.R. Donnelley.
