Rolling Stone plans first digital archive

In honor of its 40th anniversary, Rolling Stone magazine will release "Rolling Stone Cover-to-Cover: The First 40 Years," a searchable DVD containing digital replicas of every article, review and photograph as they appeared on the pages of the magazine.

The magazine's publisher, Wenner Media LLC, formed an exclusive publishing and software partnership with Bondi Digital Publishing to create the product.

This will be the first digital archive of Rolling Stone. The title currently has a circulation of nearly 12 million readers.

Bondi Digital Publishing has also been contracted to install a networked version of its software for use in Wenner's corporate offices. The company also publishes Men's Journal and US Weekly.

This is the third magazine undertaking for Bondi. In 2005 it worked on "80 years of The New Yorker," which they did not publish but created the software for. Last February it took 54 years of Playboy magazine and created them into digital archives.

The New York-based company can be found at www.bondidigital.com.
