NYC Plans Competition for Delivery Service Provider
The notification will be mailed to candidates April 11.
As part of this public-private partnership, candidates are being invited to submit proposals for the official designation and the right to perform three key roles:
· Provide exclusive shipping services for all qualified city agencies.
· Champion small businesses by offering incentives to those that are registered with and use the services of NYC Business Solutions, a program within the city's Department of Small Business Services.
· Become a key marketing partner with the city. The winning bidder gains exclusive rights to promote itself as the city's official partner for express and ground delivery.
The provider will pay an undisclosed fee for that position.
"This competitive bidding process will create revenue for the city and provide assistance for up to 200,000 New York City small businesses while offering a powerful marketing opportunity for a global overnight delivery company," said Daniel L. Doctoroff, deputy mayor for economic development and rebuilding.
This initiative is part of a growing list of corporate partnerships designed to leverage New York City's marketing assets to encourage economic development, increase revenue and grow jobs and tourism.
All submitted proposals will be evaluated to determine whether they meet the proposal's prerequisites. Responses are due by May 26, and the final selection is anticipated in mid-December.
