The News India-Times is offering three scholarships this September in an effort to increase circulation among college students, most specifically Indian American students.

Students do not have to be paid subscribers to apply for the scholarships. They can read it through the News India-Times Web site  or request a complimentary copy of the print edition to be mailed to them every week.

The publication Aug. 15 will give a quiz to applicants based on articles and news stories published within the past year. Replies are due by Aug. 31.

The first place winner will receive a $5,000 scholarship, second place $3,000 and third place $2,000.

In the event of a tie, the amount will be divided between the two recipients.

The winner will be notified by e-mail in the first week of September.
