FedEx Express to Honor Money-Back Guarantee Through Holidays
FedEx said Nov. 23 will be the last day packages may be sent via the FedEx Extra Hours service. FedEx Extra Hours, begun earlier this year, gave customers in certain areas up to three extra hours to drop off shipments. The carrier said it is discontinuing the service because of economic challenges and as part of its cost-control measures.
The company said it will still give customers the opportunity to ship packages after normal business hours. For example, it noted that several FedEx World Service Centers are open until 8 p.m., with some open even later.
Meanwhile, FedEx yesterday also outlined service changes and schedules for the peak holiday season to help its customers prepare for the busiest shipping time of the year.
The express carrier, for example, said that its money-back guarantees for all FedEx Express services will remain in effect throughout the holidays.
In recent years, FedEx Express and its competitors suspended the money-back guarantee on deferred, more economical services, such as FedEx 2Day and FedEx Express Saver, beginning in mid-December.
FedEx Express offers two money-back guarantees: If a package is more than 60 seconds late or if the customer cannot receive the status of the package within 30 minutes of inquiry, customers may request a refund of transportation charges.
For FedEx Ground and FedEx Home Delivery packages sent Dec. 17-28, the FedEx money-back guarantee for delivery will temporarily be suspended.
FedEx Express also released its shipping schedule to help customers plan for holiday transportation of gifts and packages. It is as follows:
-- FedEx First Overnight, FedEx Priority Overnight and FedEx Standard Overnight: Ship as late as Dec. 22 for delivery on Dec. 24.
-- FedEx 2Day: Ship Dec. 20 for delivery by Dec. 24.
-- FedEx SameDay: Delivery is available 365 days a year, including Christmas Day.
