E-Stamp Enters Logistics Business With Acquisitions
The deals combined are worth $7.5 million in cash and stock.
Robert H. Ewald, president/CEO of E-Stamp, said the acquisitions provide E-Stamp with expertise, customers and technology in the shipping market, and accelerate the company's plans to offer one-stop shipping solutions with e-logistics and e-fulfillment capabilities.
Infinity Logistics' key products include DigitalShipper.com, which integrates United Parcel Service, Federal Express, the U.S. Postal Service and most major small-package and freight carriers into one customized Web site. Infinity also sells other systems including, e-Warehouse, a warehouse management system that provides receiving, inventory, reporting and shipping capability, and e-Receive, an internal delivery system for management and tracking of internal receiving and package delivery operations.
Automated Logistics will provide E-Stamp with expertise in enterprise shipping and supply chain management. The company also adds more than 200 customers to E-Stamp, including medium- and large-size enterprises such as Sony Music Distribution, Oracle Corp., Novell, Fujitsu, Mazda, CMGI, Clorox, eToys, Intel, iPrint.com, Hitachi, Phillips Multi-Media and NEC America.
By embedding its Internet mailing and shipping solutions into these systems, E-Stamp will offer businesses a solution that allows the choice of carrier as well as the ability to generate postage, review discounted rates, print fully compliant labels, manage inventory and track packages.
The acquisitions are also part of E-Stamp's aggressive growth strategy, which includes broadening its suite of mailing and shipping services and expanding into the larger enterprise space.
In February, E-Stamp formed an alliance with Kewill Systems PLC, Surrey, England, an e-commerce software and service supplier. Through this alliance, E-Stamp plans to introduce a Windows-based, multi-carrier shipping product for small- to medium-size enterprises later this year.
