Cenveo Offers RPNs

Print communications provider Cenveo began a repositionable note program yesterday, letting direct mailers place "sticky notes" on the outside of their mail pieces.

Cenveo, Englewood, CO, said it would provide printing services for repositionable notes, also known as RPNs, and apply the notes to the mail pieces during fulfillment. U.S. Postal Service tests have shown that RPNs can boost response rates, though the USPS adds a fee for delivering mail with RPNs attached.

The notes are best used when they contain a message that the consumer can save and stick on a refrigerator or day planner, Cenveo said. They can be digitally printed and personalized. Cenveo offers RPNs in white, blue or yellow.

Starting April 3, the USPS began letting mailers attach RPNs to the outside of direct mail pieces as part of a yearlong market test. If the test is successful, the USPS plans to allow RPNs permanently. RPNs may be sent with all letter- and flat-sized mail sent at discount First-Class, Standard and Periodicals rates. The fee is 0.5 cents for First-Class pieces and 1.5 cents for Standard and Periodicals pieces.
