BPA Broadens Digital, Electronic Rules

Media auditor BPA Worldwide's board of directors amended rules last month to audit standalone digital magazines as well as digital versions of print publications.

The amendment revises BPA's definition of digital products and is one of many changes made last month including when digital magazines may be reported as benefit-of-membership subscriptions.

Another change is the adjustment of names of some subscription sources to reflect their inclusion of a wide range of electronic sources.

Several changes were made on the non-digital side. One among them was a change in terminology in the consumer magazine sponsored/public space.

Two others benefit business-to-business publications. First is the ability to report questionnaires and other customer communications generated through all types of media within a firm - not just sister titles - as qualified "Communication from Recipient or Recipient's Company."

Another new opportunity for BTB is the ability to garner multiple subscription requests in a single telemarketing call when that call is recorded. Until now, publications could only qualify or requalify one title per phone call.
