HP to acquire Palm for $1.2 billion

HP just announced that they are going to acquire Palm for about $1.2 billion. “Palm's innovative operating system provides an ideal platform to expand HP's mobility strategy and create a unique HP experience spanning multiple mobile connected devices,” said HP's EVP of personal statements Todd Bradley in a statement.

While it is early to say what this means for marketers, this move brings HP into the mobile device market which could mean a lot from a mobile marketing and e-commerce point of view. Watch out Amazon, Apple, Samsung and Google, there is another big player entering the game.
