Digitas Inc. moved a senior creative executive from its flagship Boston office to a newly created post in Chicago as it looks to expand its presence in the Midwest, the company announced late last week.

John Gonnella becomes Digitas Chicago's executive creative director, overseeing 40 executives and work on prestigious accounts such as Allstate and Best Buy Co. He was creative director at Digitas Boston. He will report to Ruben Hendell, managing director of the Chicago office.

"This is a DM market; we do integrated marketing across all channels -- not just interactive," said Laura Lang, president of Digitas' New York and Chicago offices. "Chicago is an incredibly important, growing office. John will be responsible for continuing to grow our business there."

Gonnella has worked on Digitas clients like AT&T Corp., American Express Co., ING, FedEx and InterContinental Hotels Group. Those clients, as well as General Motors Corp. and Delta Air Lines, are served by 1,100 executives in Digitas offices that include London and San Francisco.
