YesMail to Offer Audio E-Mail

E-marketing provider YesMail has partnered with an audio technology company to offer direct marketers the ability to deliver audio-enabled e-mails, the company said yesterday.

YesMail, Chicago, has teamed with BYOBroadcast, Woburn, MA, to allow its 2,000 clients to embed audio e-mails in their e-mail marketing campaigns in HTML format.

"There've been statistics lately that show that audio can increase response," said Kat Riley, director of creative services at YesMail. "We're interested in giving our marketers an alternative solution to differentiate their messages from other e-mails. We hope it will give them an added advantage."

Recipients will be able to activate the audio messages upon opening the e-mails, Riley said. Marketers can customize the audio technology to reflect their companies' messages, she said.

The messages, however, will not be personalized for the recipient, Riley said.

BYOBroadcast's audio system is a Java-based solution that does not require any software downloads or installations.
