Yesmail Named Privacy Seal Reseller

E-mail marketing firm Yesmail, a Donnelley Marketing and infoUSA company, said yesterday that it was designated as the first reseller of TRUSTe's Web privacy seal.

TRUSTe is a nonprofit organization that awards privacy seals to companies with Web sites meeting its certification requirements. It was founded in 1997 and also runs e-mail privacy seal and bonded-sender programs.

To be considered for a TRUSTe privacy seal, online marketers must create privacy policies to be reviewed; post notice and disclosure of collection and use practices of personally identifiable information; and give users choice and consent over how their information is used and shared.

As a reseller of the TRUSTe seal, Yesmail can let its clients apply for certification directly through the company.

"TRUSTe still does all the certification but the sale [is] made through Yesmail, which is a TRUSTe-certified company," TRUSTe spokeswoman Carolyn Hodges said. "Yesmail wants to make sure that its customers are using best practices on the Web and its customers want to become the best of the best, and TRUSTe is one way to help them do that."

TRUSTe seeks more reseller partners, she said.
