Teens are the key drivers of online video: Lycos

 Lycos, an online portal for broadband entertainment content, reports its Angelfire Web site at www.angelfire.com has claimed the top spot as the community destination for teens ages 13 to 17 and young adults between 18 and 24 years old, according the most recent comScore Media Metrix report of Internet audience rankings for October.

The site has 7.6 million monthly unique visitors and continues to rank No. 1 in the teen community category as measured by market researcher comScore.

Angelfire provides Web hosting, publishing and domain name services, featuring a full range of tools and services designed for web builders of all levels. The site's Blog and Photo Album Builder tools allow members to quickly and easily publish their thoughts and pictures on the Web.

Recent eMarketer research states nearly one-third of teens watch TV on the Internet, while 35 percent watch online video content and movie trailers. This indicates that teens continue to be one of the key driving forces behind watching video online.

Lycos also looked at the active bloggers and site builders on Angelfire to determine the most popular topics with this younger demographic over the past year.

The top five most popular topics with Angelfire members are r elationships, do-it-yourself or how-to tips, addiction recovery, sexuality and music.

For the month of September, comScore also reports Lycos, Waltham, MA, is the 12th most popular Internet destination worldwide with 91.1 million monthly unique visitors.
