Pheedo Broadens RSS Base in Blogs

More clients have dropped into RSS marketing company Pheedo's box.

Online publishers Gear Live and RealTechNews as well as blog networks b5media, Blog Critics, Creative Weblogging and Geeks with Blogs are using Pheedo to monetize their RSS, or Really Simple Syndication, feeds.

The addition of more publishers indicates the growing market in RSS advertising and expands the company's existing network of more than 8,000 publishers. The Pheedo software lets marketers reach the niche of readers who are controlling their own content with RSS feeds.

Since 2003 Pheedo, Emeryville, CA, has offered a model of feed advertising that allows publishers to generate ad revenue without relying on readers to click through to a Web site.

The company offers two versions of its Ads for Feeds product. The more sophisticated offers analytics and tracking to improve ad targeting, while the other offers only ad hosting. Pheedo advertisers include Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft, Subaru and Nikon.

The expansion in clients for Pheedo  also indicates a trend in the increasing popularity of blogs using and monetizing RSS feeds.

For example, mainstream blogging network b5media  has 130 blogs. It is running more than 60 percent of its blogs and RSS feeds through Pheedo's RSS advertising network.
