Four digital marketing services providers landed in the top 25 of the Inc. 500 list, published in Inc. magazine hitting newsstands today. The annual ranking recognizes privately owned companies based in the United States with the highest three-year revenue growth.

The data-driven marketing companies that placed in the upper echelon were:

#5 DataXu: The company offers cloud-based software that uses data science to help marketers better engage and convert customers throughout the buying cycle. Its growth rate from 2009 to 2012 was 21,337%, taking it from $406,000 in revenue to $87 million. It also earned the distinction of being the number one advertising and marketing company on the list.

#8 Emerge Digital Group: In helping online and mobile publishers to grow audiences and increase monetization. The company swelled income to $23.9 million on a growth rate of 17,064%.

#13 AdRoll: Retargeting rules as a new display advertising tool, and AdRoll has been one of the chief beneficiaries. From sales of under a quarter million in 2009, the company grew 15,065% to $34.1 million.

#21 BlueKai: Merging online and offline data is an ongoing project for most direct marketers, and they keep the income flowing at one of the premier companies dedicated to doing just that. Its $26.8 million in revenue in 2012 represented a three-year lift of 9,245%.
