MessageMedia Releases UnityMail 5.0 E-Mail Software

MessageMedia Inc. yesterday released UnityMail 5.0, an upgraded version of its permission-based e-mail marketing software.

New features include system, message and list reporting. System reports allow marketers to quantify the characteristics and limits of a database, including partition sizes, names, creation dates, total members, managers and total number of messages.

With message reports, an e-mail campaign can be analyzed by looking at URL click throughs, HTML opens and bounces. List reports allow marketers to view trends in member activities over time, including weekly, monthly and yearly, the company said.

MessageMedia also said UnityMail 5.0 has new language capabilities and lets users transmit messages in single- or double-byte character sets.

The company said UnityMail, which is integrated with the marketer's database, distributes e-mail delivery and response-handling tasks to dedicated computers, adding processing power as needed. The software can handle tasks across multiple servers and processors.

The company, based in Louisville, CO, provides permission-based e-mail messaging services and software to marketers, Internet service providers and retailers.

In June DoubleClick Inc. said it would buy MessageMedia for about $41 million in stock. The deal is expected to close in the third quarter.
