Local.com unveils advertising program

Local.com Corp., a local search engine, has launched Local Verified, a new advertising program that offers businesses preferred placement in Local.com search results.

Local Verified offers businesses an affordable way to move to the top of the results, while consumers are ensured that the information on these businesses is correct and that they are in good standing, the company claims.

"Local Verified was created as part of a top company goal to directly acquire advertisers and create a better user experience for our users," said Jennifer Black, vice president of marketing at Local.com. "The program is targeted at the small business and the CMRs but it is valuable for anyone that has a physical business location. Search marketers should absolutely add this to their mix as it is extremely affordable," she said.

The annual subscription is initially being offered at a discount rate of $249 and allows businesses to reach targeted consumers already searching for their products and services online.

Local Verified listings are checked for accuracy and include business name, phone numbers, mailing address, a map to the business location and a detailed description of the company. Businesses must be in good standing with the Better Business Bureau.

"Plain and simple, it allows a business to not get buried among their competitors," Ms. Black said. "It affects anyone who has a physical business location by allowing them the opportunity to reach local consumers online, get ahead of their competition, share an offer with consumers and verify that their information is correct."
