Levi Strauss & Co., San Francisco, announced Friday it will stop selling its merchandise online through company-branded Web sites.

Levi's clothing and accessories will be sold only on JCPenney and Macy's Web sites after Christmas. The news comes just one year after its e-commerce launch. A company spokesman cited the cost of running its e-commerce business as "unaffordable."
