HomeDepot.com Invests in 'Speed' Software
The home improvement products site will use BoostWorks' flagship product -- BoostWeb -- to improve the page loading speed for viewers who use 58K modems and slower, said Dena Lawless, spokeswoman for BoostWorks, San Francisco.
Lawless said the software will help HomeDepot.com to retain its viewers instead of them abandoning its site for competitors such as Lowes.com.
"The speed will keep customers happy," she said, "which keeps them online and leads to more purchases."
Lawless would not divulge how much Home Depot paid for the software. She said pricing for BoostWeb starts at $10,000 per computer processing unit.
