Hollywood studios target mobile users through AdMob

Moviegoers on the go can find out about Universal's "Knocked UP" and Paramount's "Transformers" thanks to a new mobile ad campaign by AdMob.

Hollywood studios, including Universal, Warner Independent Pictures and Paramount, have launched promotions for summer blockbusters using mobile advertising network AdMob. The ads on cell phones are being used to market new films and provide information for local show times and theater locations for consumers out and about.

The studios are running banner and text ads on mobile Web pages. Users who click on the ads are delivered to mobile Web pages where they can locate theaters in their area where the movie is playing, look up show times or sign up for reminders when the new movie is released.

The AdMob Marketplace matches advertisers with content providers, giving both the ability to leverage mobile advertising in 160 countries.
