Greenfield Online: Women Barely Outnumber Men for Online Purchasing

Share this content:
Greenfield Online Inc. yesterday announced a study that found 2 percent more women than men shopped online during the third quarter.

The statistic was slightly down from Greenfield's second-quarter results, which found that 4 percent more women than men were shopping via the Internet.

Other gender-oriented findings showed that books, compact discs and airline tickets were three of the five most popular purchase categories by men and women alike. However, health/beauty products and clothing are the two other purchase categories rounding out the top five for women, while men buy computer software and hardware instead.

The results were taken from a sample of more than 3,300 respondents.
