FTD.com yesterday reported a 34 percent increase in Internet orders and a 20 percent increase in total orders this past Mother's Day season compared with last year.

Fresh flowers were the most popular gifts this season, which ran from April 30 through May 13, according to FTD.com, Downers Grove, IL. However, demand for gourmet gift baskets, aromatherapy candle assortments, bath and beauty products, home decor products and garden products also increased over the prior-year period.

For the fourth quarter of fiscal 2001, which ends June 30, FTD.com anticipates revenue growth of 15 percent to 20 percent compared with the year-ago period. It also reaffirmed its expectations for continued profitability.

"With three quarters and our largest holiday behind us," said Michael Soenen, president/CEO of FTD.com, "the company reaffirms its guidance for the fiscal year 2001 of revenue growth in the 25 percent to 35 percent range and profitability for the full fiscal year."
