Firm Offers Polling System to Target Customers
The information gathered can help marketers select what products, services or content they will offer.
After viewers vote, they will see a pop-up window showing how others voted by percentage. The pop-up windows can be tailored to include logos, sponsorships, ad banners, pictures, illustrations and links to related items.
Templates are available at trafficmover.com and are broken up into five categories: health, politics, weather, entertainment and miscellaneous.
"We've designed [the system] so the polls look decent no matter who created them," said Jan Deruiter, president of MostlyWeb Inc., Philadelphia.
Deruiter said Discoveryhealth.com has been running TrafficMover and has had success selling women's products in response to a breast cancer poll. Specific sales results were not made available.
TrafficMover charges firms for the polls in advance by offering "PollCards" at its site. Like prepaid telephone cards, the PollCards expire once a certain number of viewers have been polled.
The PollCards are available in three packages: $75 for 500 people polled, $130 for 1,000 polled and $500 for 5,000 polled. The packages are designed for sites with small, medium-sized and large audiences. A free trial of 50 polls is being offered as well.
Secured Web accounts are part of the packages. Marketers can view poll results in real time at their accounts. Companies can create a library of images, fonts and other creative material at their accounts. Multiple-user identifications also can be used, allowing more than one marketer to access the account.
