Employment Web site traffic increases
According to research by Hitwise, an online competitive intelligence service, the number of visits to categories for business and finance employment and training went up by 31 percent in the week ending Jan. 6, 2007, as opposed to the previous week.
CareerBuilder.com clocked in as the most visited Web site for that week. It received 13.73 percent of all visits within the employment category.
Monster.com was the second most visited Web site, as it saw 11.51 percent of visits.
Yahoo Hot Jobs came in third place with 5.33 percent of visits.
As a category, visits to business and finance employment and training sites went down 2 percent from this time last year. This decrease may be a direct result of the drop in the unemployment rate, the company said.
Hitwise is a privately held company headquartered in New York City, and it operates in the United States, Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, and Singapore.
