British DM Show Adds New Media Feature
The Reed Exhibition Company, which organizes the annual show, said that on average "companies are booking almost 20 percent more space than last year" to grab a larger share of the expected 12,000 visitors.
Last year demand for space was up by 18 percent and could not be fulfilled, leaving some would-be exhibitors out of the show. Addition of a new hall for New Media Marketing will ease the space crunch and allow easier access.
New Media Marketing is first show in Britain "to focus solely on bringing marketers and new media suppliers together," the organizers said. Visitors to Wembley will have free access to both shows.
The decision to devote a special show to new media was taken last year in recognition of the explosive growth in every aspect - the Internet, Intranets, Digital TV, Kiosks, CD-ROMS and other marketing techniques at the leading edge of technology.
New Media also will be a feature of the conference program which usually attracts 1,000 paying delegates. Organizers say they have completely revamped the program to cover all aspects of DM, from direct mail to e-commerce.
In addition, seminars will cover such vital DM issues as legislation, call center development, customer relationship management, financial services, travel, BTB, retailing and publishing.
The fair has become a launching pad for new products and this year is no exceptions. Some 60 organizations "have announced that they will be launching new products, new services and innovative new ideas," organizers said.
