AOL Adds Digital City, Moviefone to Voice Service
AOLbyPhone users, who are now able to access various AOL features by phone, will have the added advantage of accessing Moviefone's film listings and Digital City's restaurant and night life guide via spoken commands over any phone, company officials said.
By saying "restaurants" or "bars," members will be able to search for venues in 60 major cities by name, type, cuisine, neighborhood, or they can simply hear a list of the 10 most popular selections for each city.
Then, by saying, "connect me," members will be able to call the restaurants and make reservations. The service will also allow members to hear reviews for each bar or restaurant and get the address and phone number.
"The introduction of Digital City and Moviefone represents our continued commitment of providing top-notch, well-known brands, services and partners to the AOLbyPhone service," said Roger Keating, general manager at AOLbyPhone.
The move is part of its AOL Anywhere strategy to expand the reach of its services beyond the personal computer, AOL executives said.
AOLbyPhone debuted last year and is initially free to AOL members for 30 days and then offered as a premium service.
