DHL expands operations in Vermont

DHL has opened a new facility in White River Junction, VT, that the express delivery and logistics company said would significantly expand its presence in the Upper Valley region.

Plantation, FL-based DHL has invested $640,000 in the 11,000-sq.-ft. facility, which will serve DHL's local pickup, delivery and sorting operations.

Strategically located off a main arterial to provide more convenient customer access, customers will receive earlier package deliveries because of newly automated package handling systems and a more efficient, expanded dock operation.

The pickup and delivery areas of the facility will include White River Junction, VT, and Claremont, Lebanon and Hanover in New Hampshire.

It will handle domestic and international parcels and palletized, loose-load and container freight.

The Vermont service center investment is one of many initiatives DHL has undertaken to improve U.S. network efficiencies and connectivity. DHL has enhanced its presence nationally with new facilities in New York City; Chicago; Charlotte, NC; Salt Lake City; Charleston, SC; and Columbus, OH.

DHL recently completed a $1.2 billion build out of its U.S. domestic network and infrastructure that includes an expanded primary air and ground hub in Wilmington, OH; seven new regional sort centers throughout the country; and the development of state-of-the-art distribution facilities for the East and West Coasts in Allentown, PA, and Riverside, CA.
