DHL Buys Mayne Group Canada

DHL Canada will buy Mayne Group Canada Inc., a Canadian express delivery company, in a deal slated to be final by Jan. 31, pending regulatory approval by Canadian authorities, according to DHL Worldwide Express, San Francisco.

The acquisition of Mayne Group Canada, well-known by brand name Mayne Logistics Loomis or Loomis, is expected to enable DHL to expand its Canadian market share and improve service performance with the United States. DHL said the acquisition would make DHL Canada the third-largest express delivery provider in Canada.

Loomis is the Canadian logistics arm of Mayne Group Limited, Australia's leading private healthcare provider and one of its most diverse logistics operators.

DHL and Loomis' combined product offering will include an extensive ground operation and air express network.
