*DHL Airways Adds One Percent Increase in Fuel Surcharge

DHL Airways Inc., Redwood City, CA, the U.S. arm of the DHL Worldwide Express network, announced last week a 1 percent increase in the company's temporary fuel surcharge, effective Nov. 12.

The company said the increase was necessary because of the continued rise in fuel prices. It raises its temporary fuel surcharge to 4 percent.

"DHL has attempted to avoid matching recent surcharge increases by our competition," said Vic Guinasso, president/CEO of DHL Airways. "But with oil price levels nearly doubling in the past year, we now find it necessary to impose an increase to maintain our quality of service, particularly as we enter our peak season."

The fuel surcharge has been implemented as a temporary measure until prices stabilize and return to more historic levels.
