Devon Direct Billings Jump 23%

Devon Direct Marketing & Advertising Inc., Berwyn, PA, reported yesterday that its 1998 billings had topped $290.6 million, a 23 percent increase over the same period last year. The company said its gross income had risen 21 percent to $44.4 million.

Devon chairman Ron Greene said the agency was enjoying its 14th year of unbroken growth spurred in part by technology-related assignments as well as an increase in existing business.

The largest growth for the company came with its win of the Fleet Bank advertising account. It's overall business-to-business accounts also grew by 27 percent to $96.2 million, which accounted for one-third of all its billings.

Devon recently completed a two-year project to upgrade its technological infrastructure, a move that incorporated Internet access for every desktop within the company.
