Deutsche Post Buys Speedmail
Deutsche Post World Net AG said yesterday it is acquiring UK-based consolidator and international mail distributor Speedmail International Limited, London, for an undisclosed price.The acquisition will be made via Deutsche Post's UK subsidiary, Deutsche Post Global Mail.
Speedmail employs 110 people and had about 12 million deliveries in fiscal year 2003.
Speedmail had been operating under an interim postal license that allowed it to deliver publication-related mail items in 22 London postcodes. It was granted a long-term license this month by Postcomm, the postal regulator in the United Kingdom, allowing unlimited bulk mail delivery and the ability to offer a track-and-trace product for business-to-business mail.
