Delta to cross-sell on site

Delta Airlines has tapped travel and entertainment technology firm iSeatz to create the custom-designed platform for the newly enhanced Delta.com Web site, which cross-sells other travel services including Hilton hotel rooms and Avis cars.

The site is now a full-service travel store that offers Delta Air Lines' customers the option to purchase lodging, rental cars and trip amenity options, making Delta one of the first major US carriers to offer a cross-sell and merchandising shopping experience. Delta chose to implement this strategic initiative to compete with the leading online travel agency sites.

"We looked at what the travel agent sites had that we didn't, and the main thing was the convenience of providing a one-stop shop for travel, beyond just plane tickets," said Josh Weiss, managing director of Delta.com. "We see an opportunity to convince anyone who wants to shop online to buy directly from our site."

Now on Delta.com, consumers can book hotel accommodations and car rentals with Delta's SkyMiles partners including Hertz, Avis and Hilton, as well as trip activities and services including Crown Room Club passes, airport parking and city attractions such as Broadway tickets.

"With Delta's ability to plug in a direct supply of services from companies like Avis and Hilton, as well as other services, it has a great opportunity to create revenue and customer satisfaction," said Kenneth Purcell, CEO of iSeatz.

ISeatz has built a broad inventory set that consists of more than 60,000 hotel properties, a handful of major car rental agencies and more than 3,000 destination services products. These partners supply a multitude of products into the iSeatz platform, which serves targeted offers to customers based on where they are flying.
