Dell reorganizes global business structure

Dell Inc. is preparing for a restructuring and for management changes that will move things around for its global business. The new reorganization comes as the computer maker has announced that it is reorganizing its business globally around three major customer segments – large enterprise, public sector and small and medium businesses. Dell's consumer business, led by Ron Garriques, is already organized globally.

Each group will possess greater global accountability and responsibility for responding to customer needs and leading industry change. Michael Dell, chairman/CEO, attributed the changes as a response to customer desire “for faster innovation and globally standardized products and services.”

As a part of the restructuring, Michael Cannon, president of global operations, and CMO Mark Jarvis will leave their posts. Cannon is retiring and Jarvis will move on to a consulting role for the company.

Steve Schuckenbrock, currently president of Global Services and chief information officer, will lead the large enterprise unit. Paul Bell, currently president of Dell Americas, will lead the public sector. Steve Felice, based in Singapore, currently president of Dell Asia-Pacific and Japan, will lead the small and medium business unit.

This comes about a month after the departure of Casey Jones, the former VP of global marketing at Dell, who spearheaded the Enfatico agency, the effort to combine all of Dell's 800 global accounts into one in-house agency. Since Enfatico, formerly Davinci, was founded last year in conjunction with WPP, a major global campaign has yet to be released.
