Dell Pulls Plug on WebPC

Dell Computer Corp., Round Rock, TX, yesterday halted sales of its first consumer-only line of WebPCs after just seven months, according to reports. The computers, which cost $999, were bundled with Internet access, online help and a printer, but they suffered sluggish sales related to a late Christmas debut and a higher price than similar machines. Remaining stock will be sold through Dell's online factory.
