Dell Kicks Off Campaign, Raises Mural for New Webpc

Dell Computer Corp., Palo Alto, CA, kicked off a new advertising and marketing campaign in New York yesterday complete with today's raising of a new mural in Times Square drawing attention to what the company hopes will be the holiday season's hottest new computer product, the Webpc, designed exclusively for the home consumer market.

According to Margo Winter, senior marketing manager at Dell for the Webpc,

"We're doing a complete multimedia campaign that includes television, print, Internet banner advertising and a lot of heavy out-of-home campaigns including billboards, subway stations, buses and more."

Dell's new Webpc, which starts at $999.00, will come in a multitude of colors meeting what Dell says consumers have been requesting in recent focus groups. Winter says the interest in more colorful technology reflects the consumer's growing comfortability to high technology and desire for more personalization.
