Dell, Cray Team on High-Performance Platforms

Cray Inc. will market high-performance cluster solutions and services worldwide using PowerEdge servers from Dell Computer Corp., the two companies said yesterday.


The three-year, automatically renewable agreement is effective immediately. It calls for Cray to sell and provide direct customer support for high-performance computing solutions that combine scalable, Dell PowerEdge servers and storage with technologies and services from Cray.


In addition to installation, maintenance and support, Cray will offer services ranging from site planning, system integration and training to hardware and software customization. Cray will market the Dell, Linux-based solutions alongside Cray's existing high-performance products and solutions.


Under the deal, Dell will provide Cray with current and future Dell products, including a broad range of networking and storage options, training and support for Cray's engineering and service organizations.
