dELiA*s Increases 4Q Earnings

dELiA*s, a Generation Y catalog marketer of home furnishings, clothing and accessories said net sales for the fourth quarter were $59.9 million, an increase of 39.6 percent from the $42.9 million reported for last year's same quarter. Net sales for the year ended Jan. 31 were 158.4 million, up 40.1 percent from the $113 million reported the previous year. The company said it would report a one-time increase of about $2 per share in the first quarter of fiscal 1999 associated with its iTurf Internet subsidiary public offering. Also last week, CEO Stephen Kahn announced the death of his father Sidney Kahn, 62, dELiA*s director and founding investor who began the company in 1993.
