Del Monte Enters E-Commerce With Fruits.com

Fresh Del Monte Produce Inc. yesterday launched its first e-commerce site, Fruits.com, which offers fruit baskets, pineapples and onions.

Pricing for the baskets, which also include various snack items, ranges from $9.99 to $89.99. Customized greeting cards can be added to the packages.

Orders also can be made through an 800 number listed on the site. The site allows customers to track their orders.

Del Monte, Coral Gables, FL, a 108-year-old firm, will fulfill its own orders through a back-end system it developed that ensures the fruit orders will be received fresh, the company said.

In addition, Fruits.com offers links to health and lifestyle pages at FreshDelMonte.com -- the company's content/promotions site.
