DealTime, AltaVista to Integrate Search Engines

Online shopping search engine DealTime will power AltaVista's online shopping site under an agreement announced yesterday. The deal calls foe AltaVista to replace its comparative shopping product structure with a co-branded version of DealTime's shopping service. In addition, AltaVista will transfer its shopping.com domain name to DealTime.

The new service will allow AltaVista shoppers to compare products and prices across stores in DealTime's network. The companies also plan to integrate DealTime's shopping-related results into AltaVista's search engine so shoppers can search for brands, categories and specific product models by entering shopping-related terms into AltaVista's main search engine.
